13:1 耶和華曉諭摩西說：
13:2 「你打發人去窺探我所賜給以色列人的迦南地，他們每支派中要打發一個人，都要作首領的。」
13:3 摩西就照耶和華的吩咐，從巴蘭的曠野打發他們去；他們都是以色列人的族長。
13:4 他們的名字：屬流便支派的有撒刻的兒子沙母亞。
13:5 屬西緬支派的有何利的兒子的沙法。
13:6 屬猶大支派的有耶孚尼的兒子迦勒。
13:7 屬以薩迦支派的有約色的兒子以迦。
13:8 屬以法蓮支派的有嫩的兒子何西阿。
13:9 屬便雅憫支派的有拉孚的兒子帕提。
13:10 屬西布倫支派的有梭底的兒子迦疊。
13:11 約瑟的子孫屬瑪拿西支派的有穌西的兒子迦底。
13:12 屬但支派的有基瑪利的兒子亞米利。
13:13 屬亞設支派的有米迦勒的兒子西帖。
13:14 屬拿弗他利支派的有縛西的兒子拿比。
13:15 屬迦得支派的有瑪基的兒子臼利。
13:16 這就是摩西所打發窺探那地之人的名字。摩西就稱嫩的兒子何西阿為約書亞。
13:17 摩西打發他們去窺探迦南地，說：「你們從南地上山地去，
13:18 看那地如何，其中所住的民是強是弱，是多是少，
13:19 所住之地是好是歹，所住之處是營盤是堅城。
13:20 又看那地土是肥美是瘠薄，其中有樹木沒有。你們要放開膽量，把那地的果子帶些來。」﹙那時正是葡萄初熟的時候。﹚
13:21 他們上去窺探那地，從尋的曠野到利合，直到哈馬口。
13:22 他們從南地上去，到了希伯崙；在那裡有亞衲族人亞希幔、示篩、撻買。原來希伯崙城被建造比埃及的鎖安城早七年。
13:23 他們到了以實各谷，從那裡砍了葡萄樹的一枝，上頭有一掛葡萄，兩個人用槓抬著，又帶了些石榴和無花果來。
13:24 ﹙因為以色列人從那裡砍來的那掛葡萄，所以那地方叫做以實各谷。﹚

13:1 上主對摩西說：
13:2 「你要從十二個支族中各選出一個領袖，派他們去偵察迦南地，就是我要賜給以色列人的土地。」
13:3 摩西聽從命令，從巴蘭曠野派出十二個領袖。他們的名字如下：

13:18 要看看那是怎樣的一個地方，有多少人住在那裏，居民是強是弱。
13:19 看看那地方是好是壞，居民是住在不設防的營地或設防的城市。
13:20 看看那裏的土壤是不是肥沃，有沒有樹木森林。你們要把那裏出產的果子帶些回來。」(那時正是葡萄成熟的季節。)
13:21 於是，他們往北走，從南邊尋曠野一直偵察到北邊哈馬隘口附近的利合。
13:22 他們先進入那地的南部，然後來到希伯崙。住在那裏的人有亞希幔族、示篩族、撻買族；他們是巨人亞衲的後代。(希伯崙比埃及的鎖安早七年建造。)
13:23 他們來到以實各谷，在那裏砍下一截葡萄枝，上面有一大串葡萄，要兩個人用槓子才扛得動；他們也帶回一些石榴和無花果。
13:24 那地方叫以實各谷，因為以色列人在那裏砍下一大串葡萄。

 13:1 The LORD said to Moses,
13:2 "Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I give to the people of Israel; from each tribe of their fathers shall you send a man, every one a leader among them."
13:3 So Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran, according to the command of the LORD, all of them men who were heads of the people of Israel.
13:4 And these were their names: From the tribe of Reuben, Sham'mu-a the son of Zaccur;
13:5 from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori;
13:6 from the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephun'neh;
13:7 from the tribe of Is'sachar, Igal the son of Joseph;
13:8 from the tribe of E'phraim, Hoshe'a the son of Nun;
13:9 from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu;
13:10 from the tribe of Zeb'ulun, Gad'diel the son of Sodi;
13:11 from the tribe of Joseph (that is from the tribe of Manas'seh), Gaddi the son of Susi;
13:12 from the tribe of Dan, Am'miel the son of Gemal'li;
13:13 from the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael;
13:14 from the tribe of Naph'tali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi;
13:15 from the tribe of Gad, Geu'el the son of Machi.
13:16 These were the names of the men whom Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Hoshe'a the son of Nun Joshua.
13:17 Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, "Go up into the Negeb yonder, and go up into the hill country,
13:18 and see what the land is, and whether the people who dwell in it are strong or weak, whether they are few or many,
13:19 and whether the land that they dwell in is good or bad, and whether the cities that they dwell in are camps or strongholds,
13:20 and whether the land is rich or poor, and whether there is wood in it or not. Be of good courage, and bring some of the fruit of the land." Now the time was the season of the first ripe grapes.
13:21 So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin to Rehob, near the entrance of Hamath.
13:22 They went up into the Negeb, and came to Hebron; and Ahi'man, She'shai, and Talmai, the descendants of Anak, were there. (Hebron was built seven years before Zo'an in Egypt.)
13:23 And they came to the Valley of Eshcol, and cut down from there a branch with a single cluster of grapes, and they carried it on a pole between two of them; they brought also some pomegranates and figs.
13:24 That place was called the Valley of Eshcol, because of the cluster which the men of Israel cut down from there.
