和合本

4:1 主知道法利賽人聽見他收門徒，施洗，比約翰還多，
4:2 （其實不是耶穌親自施洗，乃是他的門徒施洗，）
4:3 他就離了猶太，又往加利利去。
4:4 必須經過撒馬利亞，
4:5 於是到了撒馬利亞的一座城，名叫敘加，靠近雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊地。
4:6 在那裡有雅各井；耶穌因走路困乏，就坐在井旁。那時約有午正。
4:7 有一個撒馬利亞的婦人來打水。耶穌對她說：「請你給我水喝。」
4:8 （那時門徒進城買食物去了。〉
4:9 撒馬利亞的婦人對他說：「你既是猶太人，怎麼向我一個撒馬利亞婦人要水喝呢？」原來猶太人和撒馬利亞人沒有來往。
4:10 耶穌回答說：「你若知道神的恩賜，和對你說『給我水喝』的是誰，你必早求他，他也必早給了你活水。」

4:1 法利賽人聽說耶穌招收門徒和施行洗禮比約翰多。(
4:2 其實，耶穌未曾親自為任何人施洗，而是他的門徒施洗。)
4:3 耶穌知道這事就離開猶太，再回加利利去；
4:4 他必須經過撒馬利亞。
4:5 他來到撒馬利亞的敘加鎮，距離雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊地不遠；
4:6 雅各井就在那裏。耶穌因為趕路疲倦，就坐在井旁；時候約在中午。
4:7 有一個撒馬利亞女人來打水；耶穌對她說：「請給我一點水喝。」(
4:8 他的門徒已經到鎮上買食物去了。)
4:9 那女人回答：「你是猶太人，而我是撒馬利亞女人，你為甚麼向我要水喝呢？」(原來猶太人跟撒馬利亞人不相往來。)
4:10 耶穌說：「要是你知道上帝的恩賜和現在向你要水喝的是誰，你就會求他，而他會把活水給你。」

4:1 Now when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John
4:2 (although Jesus himself did not baptize, but only his disciples),
4:3 he left Judea and departed again to Galilee.
4:4 He had to pass through Samar'ia.
4:5 So he came to a city of Samar'ia, called Sy'char, near the field that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
4:6 Jacob's well was there, and so Jesus, wearied as he was with his journey, sat down beside the well. It was about the sixth hour.
4:7 There came a woman of Samar'ia to draw water. Jesus said to her, "Give me a drink."
4:8 For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.
4:9 The Samaritan woman said to him, "How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samar'ia?" For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
4:10 Jesus answered her, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, `Give me a drink,' you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water."
