21:27 那七日將完，從亞細亞來的猶太人看見保羅在殿裡，就聳動了眾人，下手拿他，
21:28 喊叫說：以色列人來幫助，這就是在各處教訓眾人蹧踐我們百姓和律法，並這地方的。他又帶著希臘人進殿，污穢了這聖地。
21:29 這話是因他們曾看見以弗所人特羅非摩同保羅在城裡，以為保羅帶他進了殿。
21:30 合城都震動，百姓一齊跑來，拿住保羅，拉他出殿，殿門立刻都關了。
21:31 他們正想要殺他，有人報信給營裡的千夫長說：耶路撒冷合城都亂了。
21:32 千夫長立時帶著兵丁和幾個百夫長，跑下去到他們那裡。他們見了千夫長和兵丁，就止住不打保羅。
21:33 於是千夫長上前拿住他，吩咐用兩條鐵鍊捆鎖；又問他是甚麼人，做的是甚麼事。
21:34 眾人有喊叫這個的，有喊叫那個的；千夫長因為這樣亂嚷，得不著實情，就吩咐人將保羅帶進營樓去。
21:35 到了臺階上，眾人擠得兇猛，兵丁只得將保羅抬起來。
21:36 眾人跟在後面，喊著說：除掉他！
21:37 將要帶他進營樓，保羅對千夫長說：我對你說句話可以不可以？他說：你懂得希臘話嗎？
21:38 你莫非是從前作亂、帶領四千兇徒往曠野去的那埃及人嗎？
21:39 保羅說：我本是猶太人，生在基利家的大數，並不是無名小城的人。求你准我對百姓說話。
21:40 千夫長准了。保羅就站在臺階上，向百姓擺手，他們都靜默無聲，保羅便用希伯來話對他們說：

保羅在聖殿裏被捕
21:27 那七天的期間快要結束的時候，有些從亞細亞省來的猶太人看見保羅在聖殿裏。他們就煽動群眾，抓住保羅，
21:28 呼喊說：「以色列人哪，來幫一手吧！這個人到處說教，反對以色列人民和摩西的法律，也反對這聖殿，現在他居然帶著希臘人進入聖殿，污辱了神聖的地方！」(
21:29 他們這樣說是因為看見了以弗所人特羅非摩跟保羅一起在城裏，以為保羅曾經帶他進聖殿去。)
21:30 這時候，全城騷動，群眾都跑過來，抓住保羅，把他從聖殿裏拖出去；殿門立刻都關閉起來。
21:31 暴民正想把保羅殺掉的時候，有人向羅馬駐軍的指揮官報告，說全耶路撒冷在騷動中。
21:32 指揮官連忙帶領軍隊和幾個軍官，趕到群眾那裏。他們一看見指揮官和軍隊，就停止毆打保羅。
21:33 指揮官上前拘捕保羅，吩咐用兩條鐵鍊把他鎖起來。他問：「這個人是誰？他做了些甚麼事呢？」
21:34 人群當中有的喊這個，有的喊那個，亂成一團，叫指揮官無法查出真相，於是命令把保羅帶進營房。
21:35 保羅剛走上台階，因為群眾非常凶暴，兵士們只好把保羅抬了過去。
21:36 群眾都跟在後面，大喊：「殺掉他！」
保羅為自己辯護
21:37 快要被帶進營房的時候，保羅對指揮官說：「可不可以讓我向你講一句話？」指揮官問：「你也懂希臘話！
21:38 那麼，你就不是前些時候作亂、率領四千個暴徒往曠野逃去的那個埃及人啦？」
21:39 保羅回答：「我是猶太人，出生在基利家的大數，是一個著名城市的公民。請你准許我向群眾講話。」
21:40 指揮官准了他。於是保羅站在台階上，向群眾做個手勢。大家都靜了下來，保羅就用希伯來語向他們講話。

21:27 When the seven days were almost completed, the Jews from Asia, who had seen him in the temple, stirred up all the crowd, and laid hands on him,
21:28 crying out, "Men of Israel, help! This is the man who is teaching men everywhere against the people and the law and this place; moreover he also brought Greeks into the temple, and he has defiled this holy place."
21:29 For they had previously seen Troph'imus the Ephesian with him in the city, and they supposed that Paul had brought him into the temple.
21:30 Then all the city was aroused, and the people ran together; they seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut.
21:31 And as they were trying to kill him, word came to the tribune of the cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion.
21:32 He at once took soldiers and centurions, and ran down to them; and when they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.
21:33 Then the tribune came up and arrested him, and ordered him to be bound with two chains. He inquired who he was and what he had done.
21:34 Some in the crowd shouted one thing, some another; and as he could not learn the facts because of the uproar, he ordered him to be brought into the barracks.
21:35 And when he came to the steps, he was actually carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd;
21:36 for the mob of the people followed, crying, "Away with him!"
21:37 As Paul was about to be brought into the barracks, he said to the tribune, "May I say something to you?" And he said, "Do you know Greek?
21:38 Are you not the Egyptian, then, who recently stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand men of the Assassins out into the wilderness?"
21:39 Paul replied, "I am a Jew, from Tarsus in Cili'cia, a citizen of no mean city; I beg you, let me speak to the people."
21:40 And when he had given him leave, Paul, standing on the steps, motioned with his hand to the people; and when there was a great hush, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, saying:
