23:1 保羅定睛看著公會的人，說：弟兄們，我在神面前行事為人都是憑著良心，直到今日。
23:2 大祭司亞拿尼亞就吩咐旁邊站著的人打他的嘴。
23:3 保羅對他說：你這粉飾的牆，神要打你！你坐堂為的是按律法審問我，你竟違背律法，吩咐人打我嗎？
23:4 站在旁邊的人說：你辱罵神的大祭司嗎？
23:5 保羅說：弟兄們，我不曉得他是大祭司；經上記著說：不可毀謗你百姓的官長。
23:6 保羅看出大眾一半是撒都該人，一半是法利賽人，就在公會中大聲說：弟兄們，我是法利賽人，也是法利賽人的子孫。我現在受審問，是為盼望死人復活。
23:7 說了這話，法利賽人和撒都該人就爭論起來，會眾分為兩黨。
23:8 因為撒都該人說，沒有復活，也沒有天使和鬼魂；法利賽人卻說，兩樣都有。
23:9 於是大大的喧嚷起來。有幾個法利賽黨的文士站起來爭辯說：我們看不出這人有甚麼惡處，倘若有鬼魂或是天使對他說過話，怎麼樣呢？
23:10 那時大起爭吵，千夫長恐怕保羅被他們扯碎了，就吩咐兵丁下去，把他從眾人當中搶出來，帶進營樓去。
23:11 當夜，主站在保羅旁邊，說：放心吧！你怎樣在耶路撒冷為我作見證，也必怎樣在羅馬為我作見證。

23:1 保羅定睛注視議會的人，說：「同胞們，我生平行事為人，在上帝面前良心清白，直到今天。」
23:2 大祭司亞拿尼亞吩咐侍從打保羅的嘴巴。
23:3 保羅對他說：「你這粉飾的牆，上帝要擊打你！你坐在那裏是要根據法律審判我，而你竟違背法律，吩咐他們打我！」
23:4 站在旁邊的人說：「你竟侮辱上帝的大祭司！」
23:5 保羅說：「同胞們，我不知道他是大祭司；聖經說過：『不可毀謗治理人民的長官。』」
23:6 保羅看出這一群人當中有些是撒都該黨的人，另有些是法利賽派的人；於是他在議會裏高聲說：「同胞們，我是一個法利賽人，是法利賽人的兒子。我今天在這裏受審問是因為我盼望死人復活！」
23:7 他這話一出口，法利賽人和撒都該人就爭吵起來，會眾也分成兩派。
23:8 因為撒都該人不相信復活，也不信有天使和神靈，但是法利賽人三樣都信。
23:9 喧嚷的聲音越來越大，有些法利賽派的經學教師站起來，強烈地抗議說：「我們找不出這個人有任何錯處！可能真的有神靈或天使向他說話呢！」
23:10 爭吵越來越劇烈，指揮官怕保羅被他們撕碎了，於是命令兵士下去，從人群中把保羅搶出來，帶進營房。
23:11 當夜，主站在保羅旁邊，說：「你要有勇氣！你已經在耶路撒冷為我作了見證，你同樣必須在羅馬作見證。」

23:1 And Paul, looking intently at the council, said, "Brethren, I have lived before God in all good conscience up to this day."
23:2 And the high priest Anani'as commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
23:3 Then Paul said to him, "God shall strike you, you whitewashed wall! Are you sitting to judge me according to the law, and yet contrary to the law you order me to be struck?"
23:4 Those who stood by said, "Would you revile God's high priest?"
23:5 And Paul said, "I did not know, brethren, that he was the high priest; for it is written, `You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.'"
23:6 But when Paul perceived that one part were Sad'ducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, "Brethren, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees; with respect to the hope and the resurrection of the dead I am on trial."
23:7 And when he had said this, a dissension arose between the Pharisees and the Sad'ducees; and the assembly was divided.
23:8 For the Sad'ducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees acknowledge them all.
23:9 Then a great clamor arose; and some of the scribes of the Pharisees' party stood up and contended, "We find nothing wrong in this man. What if a spirit or an angel spoke to him?"
23:10 And when the dissension became violent, the tribune, afraid that Paul would be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them and bring him into the barracks.
23:11 The following night the Lord stood by him and said, "Take courage, for as you have testified about me at Jerusalem, so you must bear witness also at Rome."
